VICS is a Voice Information Computer System for fixed wing experimental airplanes. This compact and cost-effective module offers an additional layer of security for pilots when flying by warning pilot:

  • of excessive bank angle (over 45 degrees)
  • when pitch is too high or too low
  • when speed deviates from the desired (pre-set) speed
  • when altitude deviates from the desired (pre-set) altitude
  • when speed deviates from best glide speed (in emergency glide mode)
  • of current speed during climb and descent
  • LiDar precise altimeter sensor option
  • and more.

In-flight features:

✔️ reads altitude, speed and other warnings

✔️ supports and works with compatible EFIS models (MiniUni 2 and MiniUni 3, xPlane Mini and xPlane EFIS)

✔️ provides warnings in altitude and speed director modes (will either read current altitude/speed or will warn when "altitude/speed is too low/high")

✔️ provides pilot with best glide speed director mode during emergency glide mode (only supported by MiniUni 3xPlane Mini and xPlane EFIS)

✔️ connects to airplane audio panel or directly to pilot's headset. Offers dedicated 3.5mm audio output connector for direct connection with pilot headset AUX input

✔️ has three dedicated trigger inputs (8V-24V) to warn pilot about: open canopy, open door, gear in up position, etc.

✔️ warnings in male or female voice

✔️ precisely measure altitude during final landing approach using LiDar based sensor (requires connection to any supported EFIS)

VICS module is easy to install and interface with compatible EFIS models via CAN bus.

Important: VICS module requires compatible EFIS connection for normal operation

Why pilots install VICS?

VICS provide sounds and speech cues to ease pilot overload by providing timely updates and warnings related to airplane attitude, speed, engine and other parameters. In some aircraft accidents, pilot overload is known to be a contributing factor. Cross country flying, busy airspace and flying over unfamiliar terrains may all require increased attention from pilots over a certain period of time, when pilot is already fatigued.

VICS system will provide advisory messages and alarms to pilots, when aircraft is not being flown safely or efficiently, and could mitigate the risks associated with pilot overload.

When equipped with precise LiDar altimeter sensor, VICs will provide annunciation of the current altitude during final approach to landing from 100ft and down to runway.

This feature allows to perform a smooth touchdowns on any runway day or night since pilot stays in control of his altitude with up to 1/10 of a foot tolerance. Please note that this feature requires VICs connection with any supported EFIS.

Please note: VICS module provides an advisory information to pilot when triggered, however it is solely the pilot’s responsibility to verify and assess the real situation and react accordingly. Any electronic system may introduce mistake due to malfunction. Pilot should assess’ various available information before making a decision.
